What Causes Stinging In Birth Mark Area After A Sun Burn?

In February I was on vacation in Aruba. From walking along the beach my feet and ankles became very sunburnt. I have a white birth mark on my ankle that never tans. It was so burnt that it was not visible at all. I peeled a week later. Now, 3 months later, that area on my ankle by my birth mark continues to sting. I m not sure if I should be concerned.
