Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Other than losing weight, drinking water, and exercising, what can be done to counteract my bloating? I've been told my kidney is functioning only at 39%, but my doctor is watching it. Whenever I drink a cup of water, my abdomen swells immediately by 2 inches. I've been told I have a slight twist in my intestine on the left side. What is happening? How can I correct this?
Excessive bloating is called aerophagia. Due to air swallowing, you get this symptom. Air swallowing can be caused by chewing gum, smoking, eating too fast, loose dentures, drinking carbonated drinks. In rare cases belching can be a sign of some stomach, esophagus or other abdominal organs issues. I suggest you to try to eliminate mentioned factors first. If this wont help, you should consult your doctor and have some diagnostics. Abdominal ultrasound and endoscopy should be done.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions. Regards.
