Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing problems consuming foods for the past couple of months. When I would eat anything, my stomach would cramp severely and I would just curl up into a ball. Last month, I had severe debilitating abdominal pain and went to the er where i was informed that I was constipated and had a cyst on my ovaries that burst. The cyst shrunk and the blood dissipated. In the past month I have had less than 10 bowel movements and 5 of those came from enemas. My doctor has had me take Miralax and Magnesium Citrate. I had no bowel movements for the 7 days I took Miralax. The Magnesium Citrate was supposed to work immediately but it took 10 hrs for me to pass my bowels after taking it. My back and abdomen are still cramping and I have sharp pains in my lower abdomen when I pass gas. What could be wrong with me?
Hello I share your concern. At the outset I would advise you to take laxative or stool softeners like liquid paraffin to get relief from long standing constipation.
I would advise you for certain life style modification like Incorporation of lots of fresh fruits and vegetables or dietary fiber supplement in your diet. Drink plenty of water Avoid spicy junk and fatty food and carbonated or caffeinated beverages. you can take antiacidity medicines like pantoprazole or ranitidine group of drugs with antacids for 3/to 5 days.
In my opinion you should book an appointment to a gastroenterologist for an endoscopy or colonoscopy and ultrasound abdomen to see whether ovarian cyst resolved or not.
Hope I could answer your question, please do let me know if you have any more queries, I will be happy to help you. Best wishes
