Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Stomach Cramping, Diarrhea And Sweating?
I have had stomach cramps, and very dark, almost black diareha, along with weakness and chills. I have not had a fever, but run between sweating and freezing. This has been going on since Tueday. I have taken little by mouth. Mostly liquids and a little baked chicken and potato for supper last night. Otherwise its been chicken noodle soup and 7 up with water.
Black stool means there is a chance of bleeding somewhere in the gastrointestinal tract. It can give diarrhea due to irritation or may be due to the intestinal infection that has given black stools too. Cramps can be explained by the same. Hence I would like to advise you the following:
-Send the sample of stool for lab tests particularly for blood. -Test of blood. -If there is an evidence of an intestinal infection then a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole can help to get you the symptomatic relief and possible cure. -If there is no intestinal infection them you need further studies like an upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy and contrast-enhanced CT scan of the whole abdomen.
All these will give the probable diagnosis and a plan of management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
