What Causes Stomach Cramps After Starting Birth Control Pills?

I have always been irregular, my period stopped for 4 months and then i got it for 3 months, i was put on the birth control and my period stopped, i just started on my period but i started cramping 3 days before it started, and the cramping continues, is this sharp pain normal?

Hi,
Birth control pills can cause hormonal fluctations leading to uterine contractions that can cause anovulatory menstrual cylces leading to severe cramps. Dont worry take an antispasmodic drug to relieve the pain.
