Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am concerned. I have been feeling ill -- slight stomach cramps, constipation, etc. I have been having bowel movements but when I do it s dark, dark colored (maybe black?) with a slightly fibrous appearance, yet solid. I am wondering if this is cause for concern or perhaps due to the medicine I took? Generic cold medicine & Pepto Bismal.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of feeling ill, slight stomach cramps, constipation, bowel movements are there but are dark or black and slightly fibrous in nature. Taking generic cold medicines and pepto bismol. Since the stools are dark or black, it is better to get the stool and blood tested as well as upper GI Endoscopy and colonoscopy if the stool is positive for blood. Further treatment will depend upon the investigations reports and the clinical evaluation by your Doctor.
