What Causes Stomach Cramps And Spotting After Using Mirena IUD?
I ve had the mirena for about 8 1/2 months, I ve been having light cramps and light spotting for about a week now. I haven t had a period since I ve had it inserted and I ve also been noticing small pinkish gray clumps in my discharge. What could this be?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Mirena contains progesterone which has the side effect of causing irregular periods or sometimes no periods at all. It causes irregular spotting also. However, if there is associated pelvic inflammatory disease, cramps in lower abdomen and spotting can occur. I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated including vaginal swab examination and ultrasound and get appropriate treatment.
