What Causes Stomach Distention With Constipation In Patients With Urinary Retention?
hi. I am a 49 year old female. I have urinary retention that HAD been managed by Flomax. Over the course of a few days, I have added symptoms that scare me. Now, my stomach is quite distended, I am very constipated, can t pee and don t know what to do. Should I go to the ER? I have stick to 1200-1300 cals/day ( only 5ft tall), I exercise and the weight just keeps coming on plus all the above symptoms. I am frightened.

Noted the history of a 49 year old female having urinary retention managed by Flomax, have developed constipation, distention of abdomen, unable to pee, wants to know whether to go to ER. Yes, all the symptoms indicate an emergency and you can not get relieved without assistance can cause the greatest of the distress. You may need a catherterization, X-ray and Ultrasound of the abdomen, enema for constipation. Further studies by the Gastroenterologist and the Urologist to know the reasons and get an appropriate treatment.
