What Causes Stomach Pain Post Pantoprazole Intake?
My Dr. put me on pantoprazole 40 mg tabs. every time i take one, I have sharp pains in the stomach. He did an upper G I and said nothing was wrong. I have had stomach problems for a long time. Every time I go to a Dr. for the pain, they check me for gall stones but don t find any. this has been going on, off and on for 40 years. I am 79 years old and had breast cancer 29 years. the Breast was removed and replaced with fat from my stomach. I am cancer free now and my husband and I have been married for 63 years and when I feel good , we love to travel in the US. I hope you can help with some suggestions.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is unlikely that Pantoprazole is causing your stomach ache. Pantaprazole is a drug that decreases the acid secretion in the stomach. It is likely that the pain is from gastritis itself. You could ask your doctor to check for an H pylori infection. Minimize consumption of spicy food, and drink loads of water. Take the Pantoprazole on an empty stomach about 1/2 hour before breakfast. I believe this will help. Additionally, try to consume more yogurt.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
