Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was in the hospital for stomach pain and not being able to pass stool. stomach distention. After having me drink a lemon drink, take a laxative, a suppository and drinking Go-lightly - a colonoscopy prep - 30 hours later I was able to pass stool. It was just before this that they did a ct scan and said there was Ileus. It has been 3 weeks and I still get pain when I eat and have little urge to push to pass stool. Should I be concerned or is it just a matter of time? I also have Multiple Myeloma.
Welcome to HealthCare Magic. Thank you for posting your query. I can understand your concern.
It would have been great had I examine you on my own. Yes you should be a bit concerned but not much about the ileus.
I would suggest you to - Avoid oily, spicy food - Have a diet rich in fibres - I would start tablet Pantoprazole . Your doctor can guide on the exact dosage - I would also start syrup Lactulose to soften your stool - Get a blood haemoglobin , total count , ESR done - Stay away from infection - Avoid straining during stool
I would also suggest you to visit a physician . He/she can examine you and correlate clinically.
Hope this helps. Write back to us. Have a nice day. Regards. Dr. Goswami
