What Causes Stomach Upset After Taking Bigomet Sr 1000 Mg?
Sir I had sugar fasting 200 was advice to have bigomet sr1000mg twice aday after meal suffered severe stomach upset for 15days .now sugar level down to 104 e reduce dose to 1000 mg a day but still suffer from severe stomach upset. Should I change my medicine?
Hello. Thanks for writing to HCM. One of the side-effects of Metformin (bigomet) is loose stools. Some patients do not tolerate it even at lower doses. If you are not tolerating it, it is good to change to a medication of another class preferably a DPP-4 inhibitor like sitagliptin or vildagliptin. Please try an XR preparation of metformin and take it after food to see if you are tolerating it better. I would appreciate your feedback to your answer. Wishing you good health. Regards.
