What Causes Stomach Upsets With Redness And Nausea After Alcohol Ingestion?

Hi, I am having problems w/ my stomach....I noticed it a few months ago when I had some wine and got nauseous after 2 glasses (unlike me). I waited and that kept happening. I went to a Gastrolosist and they did the Endoscopy test and said my stomach looked normal just a little red. I am taking precription prilosec now but still can only handle a drink or two and if more I usually wake up in the middle of the night with a real sour stomach(I sit up, drink water, and take Tums and by morning I am ok) What could this be?? What can I do to better it? Anything to make it more tolerable to have a drink occasionally??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The issue is due to gastritis induced by alcohol.

As you know, the best way is to prevent its intake, in other case taking antacid 1 hour prior to alcohol and avoidance of other spices intake will prove helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
