Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 55 year old female, & For the most part I have a pretty regular bawl movement daily, but every now & then I've noticed it floats! I was told that if I ate a lot of fiber that it would cause my bawl movements to do this, which is a good thing! Is this true??
Floating bowel movements are a considered a sign of disease unless you have weight loss and oily stools which could mean you are not absorbing fats. The most likely explanation is that you are ok and the floating stools are from the increased fiber and increase gas in the bowels.
