What Causes Sudden Abnormal Pain Below The Belly Button With Slight Hardness?

hello - 6 am NZ TIME ; last night a sudden pain [ 6/10] ] developed 2 - 3 inches left of belly button and I could feel a slight hardness bulging under my palm when I lightly inspected it - way worse if I turned on my right side [ as if the weight of intestines was pulling on it ] bearable on left side and I slept - upon waking and moving it exacerbated the pain and made me get up - pain still there and the closest I can describe it to is a severe case of stitch no history of this type of pain - I am 62 - male ; never been in hospital or had anything major wrong etc this pain makes me think that; if it continues I may have to go to hospital thanks AL BROWN just attempted to pay - but no funds in acc - no online banking and it s Sunday morn - oh well I ll get through on pain relief and see what happens during the day thanks anyway AL

HI.
Good to know that you have had never visited hospital.
Such type of pain can be due to intestinal infection. Severe inflammation makes pain even on turning to one side.
Watch for loose motions , fever , nausea or vomiting and consult a Doctor if necessary.
If no other symptoms you can try OTC antispasmodic and wait.
Please do not hesitate to see a Doctor if other symptoms develop as you may need a good clinical examination, investigations like ultrasonography and medical management.
