What Causes Sudden Blindness While On Treatment For Glaucoma?

About 9 am this morning, my vision was impaired. I saw a field near my center of vision, trembly lines, rather bright, blocking a portion of my center of vision. This occured in both eyes simultaneously with the same central vision area affected. After about .5 to .75 hr, this area moved slowly (in about a 15 minute period) to the left, in both eyes, until it was no longer apparent. I for over one year, I have been taking 10 Mg Lisinopril daily, and due to a lower back injury, I have also been taking about 6 ibuprofen, 200 mg a day, for the last 10 days. I also use Timolol, .5% solution, and Latanoprost .005% solution, 1 drop of each in both eyes, daily. I am treated for glaucoma. My blood pressure was 148/92 at 10:15 am today, and 139/85 at 5:30 pm today. My birthday date is 09/16/1950, I am about 5 5 tall, and weigh about 140 pounds. Do you have any idea about what this problem is, and possibly what caused it? Thank you, Dee

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The history you have given is most suggestive of a classic migraine. The tremble lines and impaired central vision that you have noticed are called fortification spectra and scintillating scotoma, both features of an aura that precedes a migraine headache. In some variants of migraines there may just be an aura with no subsequent headache. A visit to a neurologist for an evaluation and anti-migraine medication should resolve the problem.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
