What Causes Sudden Decline In Heart Rate And Dizziness After Pnuemonitis?

My Dad is 81. He is in stable health. He was diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago with interstial (spelling) pneumanitis. But, that is stablizied and he is doing well. Oxygen levels are in the 90 s with oxygen. 2 weeks ago his heart rate declined to the 50 s rather suddenly. He went to the family dr who referred him back to his cardiologist. 2 days ago he wore a monitor for 24 hours. He is to have an appt the 20th. However, he is feeling dizzy and generally unwell. I am wondering if he needs care before then.

Cardiologist 's  Response
hi,
Is he on any drugs like metoprolol which could decrease the heart rate.
if not it's probably age related and due to sick sinus syndrome. This will need urgent cardiologist consultantion and probably need pacemaker. Till then patient should going outdoor ,alone. He should not lock door of the washroom as well because he may get syncope especially during Urination or defecation. So be cautious till cardio consultation.
