What Causes Sudden Inability To Move The Leg?

my husband was out side yesterday on the front lawn bending over to pick something up off the ground suddenly he fell on the ground he said he could not move at all and his right leg felt very heavy like a block of wood, question should we be worried he is 55yold

With available information,I think it could be spine condition where a nerve root/s might be affected while forward bending secondary to disc prolapse.
