What Causes Sudden Involuntary Bowel Movements After A Twist In Abdomen?

I am a 76 year old female in good health but often I have sudden, involuntary bowel movements. Immediately before, I feel a turn or twist in my upper abdomen and I know that I m not going to make it to the toilet in time. What causes this and what can I do to prevent the accidents?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of sudden involuntary bowel movements after you feel a turn or twist in upper abdomen. And you know that you may not make it to the toilet in time. You are 6 year old female. Wants to know what can be done to prevent such accidents.
I would advise you the following in such a case:
Since your history is classical of getting a turn or twisting in the abdomen, we need to have clinical evaluation and investigations like:
Standing X-ray of the abdomen
Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen.
Enteroclysis- barium studies.

If there is mechanical obstruction or such a problem you may need a surgical intervention and hence it is preferable that you also take an opinion of a General Surgeon.
