Hi there I have a question regarding my husband. He is 63 and has alot of health issues, he however has never had a problem with his underarm hair. This morning I noticed that he didn t have any underarm hair. I asked him what happened did he shave and he said no, then checked the other one and it was all gone too. Can you help me? Was wondering what causes that problem. Should we be concerned
The possible diagnosis of the condition based on the description of the lesions is alopecia areata which is an autoimmune disease that causes patchy hair loss.It has an unpredictable course and remissions and exacerbations are comon. It is associated with other autoimmune diseases like autoimmune thyroiditis. The possible treatment options include topical steroid cream like mometasone over the affected area. Topical tacrolimus ointment is another treatment option. Consult your dermatologist regarding the above mentioned therapy. Regards
