What Causes Sudden Red Blotches On The Face After Washing It Apart From Contact Dermatitis On The Shoulders?

Hi, I am 51 and about 2 weeks ago my face gets red and blotchy after washing or showering. It seems to stay for most of the day. I bought new makeup and face lotion to see if that would help but no. Below my eye around the lashes can get itchy. My face is not itchy just around my eyes. I contacted contact deramatitis on my shoulders this summer and got a cream and it went away but in the last 2 weeks, I have little blotches on my shoulders again but not as bad. What can I do, I don't shower long and not too hot either.

Hello,

This is also a contact dermatitis. I suggest you to avoid soaps and shampoos just use clear fresh water these days. Also, you can take pills antihistamine orally twice which helps with this condition and arrange an appointment with a dermatologist or allergologist specialist for further follow up.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
