What Causes Sudden Sharp Sensation On Tip Of Tongue?

Hi. Today I was driving my car and all of a sudden had a sharp sensation on the tip of my tongue. It was small but quite intense. When I looked in the mirror it was bleeding. I was not eating at the time nor did I bite my tongue. I am a 38 year old female, relatively healthy. This is the third time this has happened over the last couple of weeks. It's a bit strange so was wondering if anyone could tell me what causes it.

Hello thanks for consulting at hcm..severe pain and bleeding tip of tongue may have resulted by sharp margins of teeth surfaces coming in touch with your tongue...you said while driving it happened, so i feel maybe you were not aware when you accidentally bit the tongue...either ways get bleeding time and clotting time checked.. Hope it helps..tc..
