What Causes Sudden Short-term Memory Loss?

Hello Dr. I am a 47yr male. I just finished dinner and sat on my couch to watch jeopardy with my dogs. The next thing I know , I’m in the back yard standing next to a tree and freezing. Know idea what happened. When I got back inside the show was over . I lost about 40 min. No drinking or drugs. Pretty scared.
