What Causes Sudden Unusual Swelling In Both Ankles But More In The Right Leg?

Hi I was just sitting watching TV and looked down at my ankles. The right is double the size and swollen. the Left is swollen behind the ankle but not near the size if the right. I am in no pain and was surprised to see the swelling. What does it mean? YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

Swollen ankles are showing the possible bad circulation of blood in your lower limbs.

Get a few lab tests to rule out liver and kidney function tests:
- Urine analysis.
- Liver/kidney function test.
- Complete blood count.
- Check the blood vessels of the legs through physical examination by angiologist and run Doppler ultrasound to check for any possible blockage.

Raise your legs when sitting or laying down. Avoid standing for a long time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
