What Causes Sudden Urge To Make Bowel Movement While Running?
Hi. I have been having a problem with my bowel movements when running. While i am running i get an urgent need to go and if i din t get to a bathroom i go in my pants, and even after i go in like 10 minutes i have to go. When i m not running it doesn t happen . I am 53 and have been running for over a year. This just started about two weeks ago. I even tried to go before and don t have to. Just as soon as i start running it happens. I have had to stop and just walk until the urge passes. But never lasts
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of a rare symptoms of need to pass stool on starting running, for the last 15 days , since you have started running at the age of 53. The most probable cause is lax sphincter added on with may be a polyp in the rectum pushing on the anal canal in running position so that the feeling comes on, urge needs to be fulfilled and hence the problems. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Clinical evaluation, per-rectal digital examination, Proctoscopy and colonoscopy and may be manometry studies to decide the cause and get treated accordingly. Stop running till you get diagnosed, do the exercises that do not give you the urge to pass motion.
