What Causes Sudden Vaginal Bleeding During Intercourse?

Me and my partner were having intercourse, during it there was a loud popping sound followed by a lot of blood. She immediately started bleeding and could not stop for a long time. After she applied pressure she got it to slow down, but there was still a lot of blood loss.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,

From the description you have given, it appears that she may have ruptured a cyst on the cervix/vagina during the intercourse leading to the profuse bleeding.

She needs a proper speculum exam as soon as possible to prevent any recurrence and plan further management. Also, avoid any further intercourse until she is properly healed and the cause detected. Ask her to take rest and not to exert. Styptics may be used if there is any residual spotting.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam,
