What Causes Sweating, Cold Body And Nausea After Drinking Alcohol?
Hello doctor, I have a question about my 26 year old friend. Last night we were out for her bachelorette party. We had had one drink at the pool, and one with dinner, and water. We went to a show after dinner, and about half way through, she started looking really bad. She started sweating through her hair and clothes, but she was cool to the touch and said she was freezing. She also said that her back and neck was throbbing, and she was nauseous. When we took her back to her apartment she threw up a little, and had some diarhea, but after that she said she felt much better. She looked and acted fine for the rest of the night, but it was really scary for about 30-45 minutes. What do you think this could be?
without an exam, I can only give general information, and, some people have a genetic predisposition to not break down alcohol fully and one byproduct (ACETALDEHYDE) builds up and produces these exact symptoms.
There are numerous other possibilities. An unrelated infection, stomach irritation and a VAGAL REACTION, anxiety/panic attack, something put into her drink, other drugs she was taking or possibly abusing.
