What Causes Swelling And Burning In The Index Finger?
my daughter showed me her index finger which was swollen and burning. then within a few hours the skin peeled off around the swelling. it looks raw, ver red, but she said if isn t burning too much anymore, just a little uncomfortable. I m assuming its a bug bit of some sort (she didn t notice any bugs around her at the time) but unsure what to do. with no clues except for swelling and peeling, I m a little concerned.
As per your case history, you have insect bite dermatitis. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
