What Causes Swelling And Clear Liquid Oozing Out Of The Scalp At The Nape Area?
My face has recently swollen from using a hair color at this point it's a bit swollen more so around my eyes. I also have a clear liquid oozing out of my scalping at the nape area and I feel this liquid when I sit up and when I lay down should I be worried? Please help
Since there would be lots of oozing and crusting, due to dried up discharge. Therefore that needs to be removed. For that you should wash your scalp daily with 5% cetrimide solution which is antiseptic as well as removes the crusts/dried secretions from the scalp, gently.
If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to apply a topical moderately potent topical steroid lotion, e.g mometasone furoate lotion, twice daily for a week or 10 days.
A short course of an oral steroids e,g omnacortil in a dose of 40mg once daily after breakfast for 7 days would aid in faster recovery from the dermatitis.
Since the area is raw and oozing, therefore there is a chance of secondary bacterial infection of the dermatitis. I would also suggest a week's course of an oral antibiotic from the penicillin or cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
An OTC antihistamine once daily is also advisable.
