my mom is 88. she has swollen legs-both. doc says she needs to wear special stockings and avoid standing up too long. she is doing that. she had that in the past and this seems to be the cause. that is ok, but yesterday 3 small red bumps (like bug bites) appear on one of her legs. it itches. we thought it was that, a bite, but today 3 more others in her arms and hand. not sure it could be related to her swollen legs which is not really a concern...

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It may be due to hypersensitivity reaction to mosquito bites or keratosis pilaris or eczema due to varicose veins or infections etc.

Use net while sleeping, use anti histamine to reduce the duration, apply Odomas if possible, use moisturizer cream.

If symptoms not improved please consult your dermatologist. He will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
