Hi, the inside of my lips are swollen and sore on a continuous line both on my upper and lower lips. the colour is slightly red on the swollen area and I feel it's numb when my tongue's not touching it. I did shisha today but this wasn't my fist time also the signs appeared hours later. I was wondering what the cause could be.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain swelling and numbness inside the lips along with redness can be due to a number of causes like allergic reaction to any food or medicine, burning with hot foods or fluids, Vitamin B12 deficiency, dry mouth, oral infections etc.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and also advise investigations if needed to confirm the diagnosis.. As of now you can take multivitamin supplements daily.. You can gargle with cold water and suck ice to reduce redness and inflammation.. You can chew sugarfree chewing gums for improving saliva flow.. Avoid hot and spicy foods and maintain a good oral hygiene..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
