What Causes Swelling And Pain In Clitoris During Periods?
Since the beginning of my period, I've noticed some swelling on the left side my clitoral hood and is painful to the touch, as if I had scratched it too much, there's no redness, visible bumps or any bumps I can feel. could this be the beginnings of a cyst? or perhaps just irritation?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Clitoris is very vascular & pain sensitive area. It gets swollen due to irritation,( friction due to sex/clothes/sanitory towel), handling)/ infection. - Keep it clean with warm water can take dry. Apply antibiotic ointment . You can take anti inflammatory drug ( combiflam) after food , avoid stress to the part- it should resolve within couple of days. If not, consult your gynecologist. Thanks.
