I woke up about a day or two ago feeling like I had a zit coming in, but there's still nothing here. Its on the right side of my nostril, its extremely sore to the touch, even when I flare my nostrils, and its swollen a little and a little red. What could it be?
Hello, Thank you for sharing your concerns with us!
I understand very well your concerns. Swelling and painful nostrils is caused by a local inflammation of the nose mucous or the nose skin. Sometimes an inflammation of the nose hair follicle may cause painful and swelling nostrils. It's not a serious condition. In most of the cases it goes away without any medications for 2-3 days. If it causes you a lot of pain and discomfort or fever, you may take a topical antibiotic cream like erythromycin and some pain killers like ibuprofen. I'm sure you will get fast relief.
Take care and all the best for you. Dr Eriol.
