What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Foot?

I have experienced this twice and getting concerned, in the my bottom of my foot right below my second and third toe I have had swelling, and intense pain no matter if I sit or stand. But I can t stand nor walk hardly because of how bad the pain is. On a scale of 1-10 1 being lowest it would be off the scale.
