Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here.... hello yesterday I felt a slight discomfort in my throat so I looked to see if my tonsils were swollen I thought I might be getting sick. But when I looked I saw that my left tonsil was swollen and had what looked a crater with pus. It seemed as if my tonsil was infected from the inside out. Later at night when I got home I slightly rolled a q tip on the hole and the q tip returned semi bloody with pus. Oh and I fell no pain or fever. What could this be
Your symptoms and signs are suggestive of a condition called peri-tonsillitis. - In such a case there is infection and inflammation between the bed of tonsil and tonsil itself. - May accompany with swelling of the same tonsil with or without pus inside tonsil. - In either case the treatment is almost similar. - Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination. Send samples of swab from infected area and blood for lab. - Get started on prescription based antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicines. - Povidone Iodine gargles. - Plenty of oral fluids. - Complete the courses of medicines till cured.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
