What Causes Swelling And Red Patches On Legs Between The Ankle?

Hi I have had my toe fused Dec 4th and am up and walking now.., but am not back to work yet. I am 57 years old have some high blood pressure and had atrial fib. two years ago. I do had some edema on my lower legs. That I am concerned about now is my left ankle is swollen and I had red splotchy patches on my legs between my ankle and knees. They itch. This is the same foot which had the surgery. THe problem subsides as I kept my l foot elevated last night and tried to put some ice on the leg. Now that I m up the problem has returned ... I currently have support stockings on to assist

I would recommend...,

- antihistaminics
- antibiotics
- apply antibiotic cream
- keep leg elevated
