My husband came home last week with a red looking ring around one ankle, and the ankle was swollen. It hurt him, when I gently touched his skin where the reddish ring was. The ring did not go all around to the very back of his ankle. I had him raise his foot up high on pillows, applied cold compresses (Ice) to the area and the swelling went down, but the redness remained. Then I put some cortisone cream on it, and the redness almost (but not completely) went away. It felt better the next day, but he took it easy and continued with the cold packs. By the next day, (against his wife s advise) he insisted on going golfing. By the time he came home it was totally red and swollen again. What do you think?
