What Causes Swelling And Soreness In The Nipple

My right nipple has been sore for 5 days now. Yesterday it became swollen and yellow crust started forming in it. When i try to feel that area there is lumpiness underneath the nipple. I am not pregnant, not on any birth control and I got my period yesterday.
