i knoitced a bump on the base of my penis, i believe it is a vein because when i get hard i can feel a line running up the penis. the day after i found the bump my penis became swollen. i went to the doctors and they told me it was a slight hernia. I was just wondering what another cause could be because i dont think it is a hernia.
You have noticed a bump at the base of the penis, it has become swollen. The skin around the private organs is very thin and sebaceous glands are much pronounced in the area. It could be a sebaceous cyst. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a Urologist. Applying warm compress may help. If required the treating doctor will drain or remove it by minor surgical intervention.
Antiseptic cleaning will be done and you will be treated with antibiotics for faster healing. Other factors that may cause such symptoms are infection due to shaving, ingrown hair, staph infection contacted from sports equipment, locker rooms, etc. Get STD tests done to stay on the safer side. If report shows positive results you will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
