What Causes Swelling Between Ear And Jaw That Hurts While Eating?
When I eat (chew), there is swelling between my lower ear and my jaw. It is usually one side or the other and is very painful. Within three or four bites I am in so much pain that I have to stop eating. Sometimes it gets to the size of a tennis ball. After I stop eating, it gradually goes away. What is happening?
You may be having an obstruction to your parotid salivary gland , which secretes saliva and is located between the lower ear and jaw. You will need to meet your doctor , who will look for the cause of obstruction and may ask you to do a ultrasound of the region. Once the cause is know , you can be treated. Dont worry , you will be fine!
Take care
