A week ago, I missed a step and slipped down appx 5 wooden steps onto a concrete floor. My right bottom cheek immediately started to swell and bruise. I was barely able to walk for several days. Now almost a week later that same cheek is still swollen, bruised & hot to the touch. I am able to walk, but I cannot put pressure on the area and just the slightest touch is painful. What could be going on and should I be worried?
Hello, Thank you for consulting with HCM. In case of trauma in the soft tissue of cheek there will be swelling only for 1 week. but if there is involvement of bone the pain and swelling will be continued. And the bone will be observed in the radiograph. So you have to visit a dentist to get complete examination of the area done with associated tooth also. Till then you can start with a paracetamol twice daily. Hope it will help you
Hello Welcome to HCM You met with an accident so swelling in cheeks is due injury to either tooth, gums or bone so it will better to get the xray done of face as well Jaw to know what type of injury it is and then consult your dentist. For pain you can take painkiller flexon AA and do not put hand or warm pressure or hot bag on that injury side otherwise it will increase your swelling. Thank you
