What Causes Swelling In Different Parts Of The Body?

the base of my left thumb is swollen and have pain, so is the base of my left big toe. and just notice that my left cheek is a bit swollen, looks puffy under the eye compared to the right side.could it be coincidental or should i go to the general doctor or orthopedist?

Dear patient
Swelling in multiple small joints may be due to gout. It's a condition in which increased level of uric acid in blood leads to deposition of uric acid in small joints in form of crystals. Joints of toe and thumb acid are generally involved. There is acute attack of swelling with pain when there is sudden increase in blood uric acid. You should be investigated For serum level of uric acid. If it's increased drugs which decrease level of uric acid like Febuxostat or allopurinol can be started. So get it done and visit orthopedic consultant nearby you with report. All the best.
