Hi Doctor, I have been prescribed wysolone 20 mg everyday after breakfast. Its been a month and i am having symtomps like moon face with double chin. Is this normal? will i lose the moon face after i stop the tablets as its a three months course. Is there anyother long term side effcects? Please advice.
Hello Wysolone is a corticosteroid hormones and as usual prescribed in so many diseases . Normal dose depend on type of disease and severity of symptoms . The side effects are: Cushing's syndrome and growth retardation particularly in children . Fluid retention and swelling all over body particularly on face as in your case ( on face and double chin ) . Steroid ( wysolone ) also causes reabsorption of calcium from bone hence bones become fragile and weak and liable to break ( fracture i.e. osteoporosis ) . However there are so many side effects but as drug is important and life saving , that's why your doctor advised you. Side effects are common but once you stop ( tapers gradually ) , these side effects will subside , gradually . You didn't mention the disease for which this drug advised so your treating doctor will tell you whole things . Hope this will help you.
