What Causes Swelling In Neck And Face With Fever After An Inscet Bite?

Would a wasp or hornet sting carry an impact when bit? Walking through the woods one day something bit or hit the very top tip of my left ear. There was strong impact when what ever it was hit me, the impact was so strong it brought me to my knees for a second, than I ran as fast as I could out of the woods. Within less than 2 hours my left side ear, face, and neck was significantly swollen, I had fever, and my left carotid artery in my neck had a black streak along the artery. Within a few days the swelling went down and the black streak faded, I went to the doc a week after this happened and was told I had a nasty ear infection so was rx d amoxicillin for 10 days. While on the amoxicillin I notice red patches on my neck that appeared to have yeast growing from them. These red patches never went away and after 2 years I still have red discoloration on both sides of my neck. I assumed when this event happened it was a hornet bite, but I m not so sure now. And think someone may have shot me with some sort of blow gun or something. What do you think?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Swelling in neck and face are usually the lymph nodes which get enlarged due to infection and diffuse swelling is because of allergic reaction to the toxin released by the bite of insects etc. The reaction resulted in release of anti-allergic cells and histamine which causes more fluid to release from capillaries in the tissue in order to dilute the allergen and also neutralized by the antibodies. As a result of toxin there is sometimes blood collection or hemolysis also which disappears in 2 weeks time and if not treated can have infection for which antibiotics were given to you
