Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, My 2 1/2 month old daughter was born the day i turned 37 weeks pregnant. this morning she woke up screaming and wont open her eyes. her right one is swollen and red and i tried feeding her and she took less than an ounce and she spit it all up.What could be wrong? and iss it serious?
From the history, it looks like your child has got some infection surrounding the eyes (Pre-septal/orbital cellulitis). It would have been easier to diagnose if we have the image of the swollen eye. It usually happens following a viral infection.
Your daughter needs to be attended immediately. She will require some antibiotics and may require a scan too. I would suggest you to consult a pediatrician, as early as possible for further care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
