What Causes Swelling In The Feet?

I woke Wednesday after no apparent trauma to a swollen right foot that was red. Went to E.R. blood fine uric acid slight and wbc slight xrays negative. Pain meds antibiotic and anti inflammatory taken for 72 hours but not much better. Can weight bear with meds and redness decreasing. seeing pcp later in the week as I elevated and finish meds any idea besides gout and would it affect the entire foot?
