What Causes Swelling In The Lower Back Of A Child?

My eleven year old has a spot on his lower back that is swelling. He said it doesn't hurt, but it gets bigger as the day goes on. I would like him to be seen, but would like a recommendation of which doctor would be best to start with. I don't want to start with the gp as they don't do xrays and would just re-route us and cause an additional copay.

Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I reviewed your query and here is my answer.
Since when you notice this swelling? Is it hard or soft? How is its color? Does your son run fever? You should see a children specialist for this. He /she may manage you at the best.
Hope i answered your question. Feel free to ask if you need further assistance. Thanks.
