Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have mono. I've had it for about two months now. My spleen just now started swelling, or so that's what I'm led to believe it is. Right at this very moment, it feels like somebody's poking my spleen. It just has little twinges every few minutes. I'm nervous about that because I heard your spleen can rupture, though I haven't done anything strenuous beyond walking (and not very far at that).
Hello and thanks you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein and I will try to help you as much as I can with my answer.
Spleen enlargement or splenomegaly is a sign of mononucleosis and it should improve with recovery from the virus. Spleen may rupture but usually after trauma. So it should not rupture because of enlargement, you don't need to be concerned about this. I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
