What Causes Swelling In The Vagina After Taking Monistat Tablet?
I have a yeast infection and I took monistat 1 yesterday. The discharge changed from the white cottage cheese color I had before the medication to a yellowish cottage cheese. Is this the medicine working or is it getting worse? I am still a little swollen but the itching/rash has gotten better.

Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. As your itching and rash is improving monistat is working for yeast infection. There can be coexisting of yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis. So better to have a swab test to rule out that. In such case you will also need metronidazole or clindamycin suppository along with these. If swelling and irritation increase then it can be allergic reaction to monistat and in such case consult your GP to change to another drug. Avoid soaps and irritants to wash the genital area and instead you can use saline or warm water. Using intimate wash is also good. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
