My 13 year old daughter has been complaining about a swollen tongue for a couple weeks, It comes and goes and doesn't seem related to the food she eats. She doesn't have a hard time breathing, her throat itches and feels like she is swolling a hair ball. She feels lathargic and has no energy.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain the symptoms of swollen tongue and itchy throat seems to be due to allergic reaction and it happens on and off as when she gets exposed to allergen there is proliferation of allergic reaction and itching in throat and feeling of swallowing a hair ball is also an allergic symptom.. It seems to be related to food allergies and you need to consult an Allergist and get her evaluated and he can advise her to take anti-allergic medicines like Benadryl.. He can also get investigations done like RAST test, food challenge test to rule out the exact allergen and treat her accordingly.. An immunotherapy can be given to reduce the severity of allergy symptoms as well as avoidance of the allergen exposure once it is diagnosed will help..
Hope this information helps..
