Hi! I was wondering if you could possibly give me some advice. My right tonsil has been swollen for about 2 months now with a white spot. Its not very painful unless i yawn it just feels like i constantly have something stuck in my throat. I ve went to the ER twice, as i dont have healthcare to go see a specialist, and they told me both times it was pharyngitis and prescribed me antibiotics which seemed to help for a little bit but then it just went right back to being swollen. I m 22 years old and a smoker which kind of scares me because i googled about it and one possibility was cancer. What does this sound like to you? Thanks in advance!
Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic. I had gone through your question. Don't worry this not cancer. You are suffering from chronic tonsillitis. The white spots on tonsil are crypts filled with pus and food debris. We call it as a follicular tonsillitis. It is unlikely to have tonsilar cancer. The history typically suggestive of tonsillitis and not cancer. I recommend the following.
1) The frequent tonsilar infection is a indication for tonsillectomy that is removal of tonsils.
2) Nothing to worry this is not cancer.
wish you a speedy recovery.
